We make our way into the realm of Salkantay Mountain, the second highest mountain in the region at 6,270 m or 20,600 ft. Since ancient times medicine men and women have journeyed to this mountain to reconnect with their ancestral lineage and the ‘wild’ or Salka energy. We drive for around 4 hours, stopping at Tarawasi, the Princess Temple, to perform a preparatory ceremony, before arriving at Soraypampa Campsite, where we begin the process of connecting with the mountain with a despacho ceremony. After dinner we enjoy an early night in preparation for reaching the pass next day. Overnight in Soraypampa.
